The wife of Weezer’s bass player has pleaded not guilty in a police shooting

Jillian Lauren Shriner has led an interesting life. Not only is she the wife of Scott Shriner, the bass player of Weezer, but she was also once a member of the harem of Prince Jefri Bolkiah, the brother of the Sultan of Brunei (she wrote a book about that.) Adding to her list of stories is charged with discharging a firearm with gross negligence and assault with a semi-automatic firearm.

The incident happened on April 8 when LA cops were chasing some suspects fleeing a hit-and-run. When the cops followed the trail into a residential neighbour, they ran into Jillian in the backyard of a house. She had a handgun.

This caused the cops to pause. They repeatedly told her to drop the gun, but she didn’t. They opened fire, striking her in the shoulder. It was a minor gunshot wound and she was released soon after going to the hospital.

The initial charge was attempted murder, but that was downgraded. Still, if she’s convicted on all charges, she could get up to 19 years in jail.

Jillian is currently out on bail after pleading not guilty. A trial date hasn’t been set.
