The wildfires in Los Angeles are affecting Canadian musicians who live there.

You’ve probably seen the pictures by now. Wildfires whipped by high winds have devastated huge swaths of Los Angeles and the surrounding area. James Wood, Mel Gibson, Martin Short, Eugene Levy, Billy Crystal, Jamie Lee Curtis are just a few of the actors who have seen their homes damaged or burned down. Musicians have been suffering, too.

Let’s start with the Canadians:

  • Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace and his wife Chantal Kreviazuk needed to evacuate their home.
  • Record producer Greg Wells (Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Celine Dion, and many others) lost his house.
  • Eight people and a bunch of cats are hole up at George Stroumboulopoulos’s Los Angeles home (which is safe for now.)

Other affected musicians and venues:

  • Chris Shifflet of the Foo Fighters.
  • Steve Aiello of Thirty Seconds to Mars
  • Zachary Smith of the band DIIV lost his house. His wife is six months pregnant with their second child.
  • Habor Studios in Malibu where artists from Drake on down have recorded, is gone.
  • The Hollywood Bowl is under threat.

Here is an editable spreadsheet of music people affected and how anyone can help.
