The winner of the 2025 Polaris Music Prize is Yves Jarvis

After a year of nominations, debate, and kvetching among about 200 music industry boffins, the Grand Jury appointed for the Polaris Music Prize made its decision last night on the best Canadian album of the previous 12 months. The honour went to All Cylinders by Yves Jarvis. The record came out in February via Next Door Records.

Jarvis took home the $30,000 cash prize courtesy of the Slaight Family Foundation. The other nine artists on the Short List got $3,000.

There was a second award last night, too: The first-ever SOCAN Polaris Song Prize. That went to Mustafa with “Gaza is Calling” from his Dunya album.

Finally, there was the 2025 Slaight Family Heritage Prize, which is given out to an album released in the years before Polaris. That went to The Speckless Sky from Jane Siberry (released in 1985) and Grab That Gun from Organ (2006).
