The World Cup starts today and streaming services are flooded with fake World Cup anthems
The first of 104 games in the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off today in Mexico City, featuring Mexico vs. South Africa, and if you’re looking for an anthem to go with the game, you probably won’t have trouble finding one, although it will be fake.
According to Deezer, the Paris-based streamer that seems to be more concerned with AI fakes than any other streaming platform, reports that:
“More than 270 tracks named ‘World Cup 2026’ have been uploaded, and over 70% of these are labeled as generated with the use of AI. Similarly, there are over 150 songs named ‘FIFA World Cup 2026’, and over 65% of these are labeled as AI.”
Unofficial World Cup anthem started coming out in significant numbers earlier this year. Here’s an example of a French anthem.
This is a big thing in Brazil, too, where there are over 180 such fake songs. Of them, 71% are AI.
