Music News

The year in review, TikTok and music edition

‘Tis the season for many, many year-end reviews/summaries/lists and TikTok has some data worth exploring. It’s hard to overestimate what kind of an effect TikTok is having on the recorded music industry. I’d even go far as to say that when it comes to the relationship youth has with music, it’s akin to how forty years ago people were affected by the appearance of MTV and then MuchMusic. Ignore TikTok at your peril.

The platform has just released its year-end review. Here are some highlights lifted directly form the press release.

  • No one got more TikTok views than Lizzie. She’s been dubbed The Queen of TikTok for 2022.
