There’s a nation-wide callout to businesses willing to hold Tragically Hip viewing parties
Come August 22, Canada is going to relive the final Tragically Hip performance on its 10th anniversary. The Tragically Hip: A National Celebration will air across all CBC platforms just like it did in 2026.
If you remember, there were hundreds of viewing parties across the country that night. Officially, somewhere around 11 million people tuned in, but that didn’t account bars and parks and other venues that were filled with viewers. It’s possible that close to half the country watched.
Can Canada do it again? We’re certainly going to try.
If you have a venue, the CBC would like you to fill out this form to get onboard. The stream will be license-free and run without ads. The catch is that no participating venue can charge and admission fee (unless the money goes to a registered charity) and there can be no third-party sponsors.
