There’s a new chart that ranks artists by “cultural influence”

Luminate, the company that measures music consumption in a multitude of ways, now has something called the “Luminate Index.” This new chart-like thing is designed to “measure a music artist’s influence for brand partnerships and beyond.”

Okay, what does that mean?

The company has mashed up stats from streaming, social media data, and consumer surveys. The first Luminate Index shakes out like this. I’m not entirely sure how this data will be used, but someone will find it useful.
