There’s a new development in the murder of Gord Lewis of Teenage Head

In August 2022, police were called to do a welfare check on Gord Lewis, guitarist with Teenage Head. When they arrived at his apartment on Catherine Street South in Hamilton, they found him stabbed to death and his body already in a state of decomposition. His son, Jonathan was quickly arrested and charged.

Jonathan did, in fact, stab his father to death. He was mentally ill, thinking that Gord was trying to kill him with anthrax, and was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, alcohol use disorder, and cannabis use disorder. He was eventually found not criminally responsible for his actions.

In a new twist, Jonathan has for months been able to go out in public supervised by family members. This resulted from a recommendation by the people administering his care at St. Joseph Hospital’s psychiatric care unit in Hamilton.

This came as a surprise to a few family members who say they weren’t consulted on Jonathan’s release privileges. They had no idea that he was being allowed out. It turns out this was an administrative errror–hospital people thought Brian and his wife were informed–and have since apologized for the mistake.

Jonathan’s medical prognosis is “good” as he responds to antipsychotics. His schizoaffective disorder is in partial remission. He still suffers from hearing voices (“auditory hallucinations”) but they no longer command him to do things.
