Forbes once again rooted through the financial dealings of dead celebrities for this year’s highest-paid list. You may be surprised who made it this year. (All figures in American dollars):

  1. Roald Dahl, British author d. 1990: $513 million
  2. Prince, d. 2016: $120 million
  3. Michael Jackson, d. 2009: $75 million
  4. Charles Schultz, Peanuts cartoonist, d. 2000: $40 million
  5. Dr. Seuss, kids author, d. 1991: $35 million
  6. Bing Crosby, crooner, d. 1977: $33 million
  7. Elvis Presley, d. 1977: $30 million
  8. Arnold Palmer, golf legend, d. 2016: $27 million
  9. Gerry Goffin, songwriter, d. 2014: $23 million
  10. Luther Vandross, d. 2005: $21 million
  11. Bob Marley, d. 1981: $16 million
  12. Juice Wrld, d. 2019: $15 million
  13. John Lennon, d. 1980: $12 million

Yes, there are 13 people on the list. An odd number, yes, but given the subject matter and the fact that this list was released the day before Halloween…
