There’s a new ska supergroup made up of anti-vaxxers

Once upon a time, Dicky Barrett was the singer for Boston’s Mighty Mighty Bosstones. The group suddenly broke up in 2022–no reason was ever given–leaving Dicky to pursue other projects. Might he want to concentrate on his job as the voiceover guy on Jimmy Kimmel? No. He quit that job, too.

It appears that Barrett’s focus has been his anti-vax campaigns. First there was an anti-vax anthem that he co-produced with RFK Jr. (and we know his attitudes on vaccines). Now he’s in a new band called The Defiants that was announced on the Bosstones’ Instagram account. The group includes:

  • Dicky (an anti-vaxxer)
  • Pete Prada (former drummer for The Offspring who left the band after going all anti-vax)
  • Greg Camp (ex-Smash Mouth, a contributor to the Church of Scientology’s weird COVID prevention campaign)
  • Joey LaRocca (of the band The Briggs, another Scientologist)
  • Johnny Rioux (once of Street Dogs whose vaccine beliefs are unclear)

So far, all the band’s songs are completely innocuous punk.
