There’s a new survey on the best workout music. Metal fans lift heavier than anyone.

There’s a new survey on workout music. It’s an American study, but I’m sure we can extrapolate things a little bit for the rest of the world. Here are some highlights about the best workout music.

  • Favourite artists for workout music are (1) Kendrick Lamar, (2) Metallica, (3) Taylor Swift, (4), Red Hot Chili Peppers, and (5) Beyonce.
  • Top genres for working out: (1) Pop: 44%, (2) Rock: 43%, (3) Hip-hop/rap: 41%, (4) EDM/Electronic: 25%, (5) Indie/alternative: 19%
  • Most motivating music: (1) Rock: 47%, (2) Hip-hop/rap: 44%, (3) Pop: 42%, (4) EDM/Electronic: 31%, (5) Metal: 17%
  • Metal fans work out the longest on average (49 minute)
  • Metal fans are most likely to max out when lifting heaving (36%)
  • Apple Music listeners are the ones most likely to bit personal bests when compared to Spotify (43% to 39%).
  • The most popular song on workout playlists: “Stronger” by Kanye West
  • Most common artist on workout playlists: Drake
  • Most common rock artist on playlists: AC/DC
