There’s a New Update to the Radioplayer Canada App. You Should Get It.

When the Radioplayer Canada app was first introduced, it was great for being able to stream content from more than 400 stations across Canada. For stations like The Edge in Toronto, you can also catch up on episodes of my Ongoing History of New Music podcast. This, however, was just the first iteration of the app. There was always more planned.

This week, the app was updated to include new interfaces for Sonos systems, Google’s Chromecast and perhaps most importantly, Apple CarPlay.

The CarPlay addition means that Radioplayer Canada will show up on the dashboard interface of any vehicle so equipped. If you’ve used CarPlay, you’ll know how cool and functional it is. Having Radioplayer displayed whenever an iOS product is plugged in means that traditional radio has less of a chance at being buried among all the options available in today’s automobile infotainment systems.

If you’re like me and you have a Sonos system in the house, just go to the Sonos app and add it from the Music Services screen.  The Chromecast addition means that you can “cast” your favourite radio station onto a nearby TV and see a live feed montage which includes everything from album art to social media posts to other program information.

Nice. You should jump on board. Really.
