They’re not fooling anyone: This new band called Los Unidades is actually Coldplay

This was tweeted out the other day.

Some new Spanish-speaking band destined to be the next Luis Fonsi. Nope. It’s Coldplay.

Fans are familiar with Chris Martin’s involvement in the Global Citizen charity. Los Unidades is Coldplay’s cover for a three-track EP designed for release tomorrow (November 30), which would have been Nelson Mandela’s 100th birthday.

There are plenty of guest appearances on this EP: Pharrell Williams, Stormzy, Stargate, Cassper Nyovest, Tiwa Savage, David Guetta, Wizkid, and rapper Jozzy. Here’s the first single.

This is the full tracklisting:

1. Rise Up (feat. Nelson Mandela) – Stargate
2. E-Lo (feat. Jozzy) – Los Unidades & Pharrell Williams
3. Timbuktu (feat. Stormzy & Jess Kent) – Cassper Nyovest & Los Unidades
4. Voodoo (feat. Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, Danny Ocean & David Guetta) – Stargate & Los Unidades

And here’s a statement by Global Citizen CEO High Evans:

For hundreds of years, we have witnessed the power of music in bringing people together to drive activism and demand change. We are thrilled to release Global Citizen EP 1 with new songs from these incredible artists who stand with us in the fight to defeat extreme poverty, and we are extremely grateful to Dave Holmes, Parlophone Records and Atlantic Records for their dedicated partnership and support as we demand to see an end to extreme poverty by 2030.
