This altered album from Alvin and the Chipmunks is the sludgey Goth album I’d been looking for

Alvin and the Chipmunks were invented by Ross Bagdasarian back in 1958 as a novelty record. They’ve been around ever since as one of the most successful children’s artists of all time. There have been two number-one singles, four top 10 albums, three platinum albums, and five Grammys. It’s an empire that worth about US$300 million today.

This, however, is outside the Chipmunks canon.

The squeaky voices we hear on the original records were made by speeding up Bagdasarian’s voice. But what if you went in the opposite direction? The result is a sludgefest of a grunge album that I’ve been searching for all my life.
