I was doing a little research for The Ongoing History of New Music when I ran across the story of Sergei Putyatov, a Russian guitarist who set a Guinness Book of World Records mark as the fastest player in the world. In May 2011, he was able to shred at an incredible 27 notes per second. (Via Far Out Magazine)
