This is odd: Why has all Oasis music disappeared from streaming music services in Canada? [UPDATE: It’s all still missing!]
I got a tip from reader Chris yesterday morning:
“Just wondering if you knew what was going on with the Oasis catalogue on Apple Music? Woke up this morning and POOF! Gone. Is it a rights issue or just a glitch or something? I checked Spotify, everything is still up there.” (Reddit thread here and here.)
UPDATE: Oasis has disappeared from Spotify in Canada, too. And YouTube Music, too.
I checked myself and outside of a few EPs and singles, there’s nothing there. No Definitely Maybe, no (What’s The Story) Morning Glory, none of the EPs.
A quick check of Spotify shows that everyone is still there. Things are fine on Qobuz. But Amazon Music and Deezer seem to be lacking a lot of Oasis content, too. And from the searching I’ve done, this seems to be a situation particular to Canada.
This isn’t the first time this has happened. There was a similar situation in 2020–at least with Apple Music.
This sounds like some weird licensing glitch. I’ll keep poking around. I’ve contacted their Canadian label and I’m awaiting a reply.
Might be a glitch because I am sitting here at 0924 MST and Oasis is here still. Very weird
In Montreal, 95% of Oasis songs are gone from Spotify.
Calgary still has Oasis. Probably a server thing
That’s why I buy music
All vanished from YouTube Music too.
All are still available on Deezer in Ontario
Still have it (a day later) in Calgary on Spotify and YouTube. Quite odd.
Disappeared in Edmonton.
Went back and checked, and yup, only the EP’s and singles are there.
