This is your weekly Canadian sales/streaming report (23 Oct 2025)

Before you look at these numbers, remember that just like last week, there’s a Taylor Swift effect, although it’s working in the opposite direction. Here’s what we have for CD sales, vinyl sales, and streaming numbers the week after Life of a Showgirl was released.

  • CDs sold in Canada last week: 37,390 (down 53.9% from last week)
  • Vinyl sales in Canada last week: 44,036 (down 50.5%)
  • CDs sold in Canada this year: 1,241,433 (down 4.1% from this point last year)
  • Vinyl sold in Canada this year: 1,368,195 (up 19.3% from a year ago).

Streaming numbers:

  • Songs streamed in Canada last week: 2,898,963,071 (down 2.8% from last week)
  • Songs streamed in Canada so far this year: 118,167,693,298 (up 5.7% from this time in 2024)

Back to Tay-Tay. She broke a bunch of Canadian chart records with Life of a Showgirl.

  • The biggest album debut in the modern streaming era
  • Biggest debut in Canada
  • 15th #1 album in Canada
  • She holds all five of the top 5 highest album debuts in the streaming era
  • “The Fate of Ophelia” was the most-streamed song in a single day and in a single week in Canadian history
  • All 12 songs on the album occupied all 12 spots on the Billboard Canada Hot 100 Chart and Consumption charts.
