Choosing to give away music is different than having somebody take it.
Can’t recall many artists making the claim on the left. I think this meme is off context. If a band was to give their music for free, it was probably to try and build an audience for a limited time, but didn’t foresee giving it away forever. Also, what’s the point of this meme? Are they trying to silence artists now who are in dire straits? I think that goes against what we as music fans stand for. I don’t like it.
Choosing to give your music away is one thing. Spotify making money off your music that you are giving away is the other.
