Crime

This Mexican band was on their way to a show. Then they just vanished.

Given the cartel situation, traveling in Mexico can be dangerous, which is why people are so concerned about the band Los Juniors de Monterrey. The five members of the group and their driver were heading home after a Father’s Day gig when they just…vanished.

Their slot at the La Kaprishosa, a bar in the city of Guadalupe, about 90 minutes south of the Texas border, went off without incident. There are videos of the band posing in the venue at around midnight Sunday night/Monday morning. It appears that they’d also been offered to play a private gig by someone they met in Guadalupe.

Then at around 3am, an Instagram photo was posted showing the group on the side of the road as their GMC Suburban appeared to be having trouble. Then that was it. Their phones stopped working, too.

But then on Tuesday, all the members reappeared. They’re alive and well but aren’t talking about what happened to them.

This is the second time in less than a month that a Mexican band has disappeared. On May 25, Grupo Fugitivo was supposed to play a private gig in the border town of Reynosa when they were kidnapped, tortured, and killed. Nine suspects, each belonging to the Los Metros, a subest of the Gulf Cartel were arrested in that case.
