This Might Be a Cool Mother’s Day Present

This press release popped into my inbox last night.  If you’re in the Vancouver area, it might be worth considering if you have a Mom Who Rocks™.

Are you looking for the perfect gift for mother’s day? Ladies Rock Camp Vancouver is the perfect stay-cation weekend for the mom who has always wanted to be in a band.

Ladies Rock Camp Vancouver is holding their rock camp from May 25 to 27, 2012 at the Waldorf Hotel.

Registration for camp is at LadiesRockCamp with 8 spots left for ladies who want to rock.

The Ladies Rock Camp is a three-day version of the Girls Rock Camp for women 19 and older and serves as a fundraiser for the Girls Camp.

Ladies of all ages and skill levels (absolute beginners are welcome!) will form a band, write a song and play a show, all in just three days. Campers will participate in instrument lessons and workshops in songwriting, stage presence, and creating band merchandise. All instruments, equipment and food will be provided.

Like the Girls Rock Camp, the Ladies Camp will be run entirely by volunteers: local musicians, artists, performers, and music enthusiasts. All instructors are female identified, and all volunteers work hard to provide a positive and empowering environment.

Some noteworthy volunteers include: Kathryn Calder, vocal instructor (The New Pornographers, Immaculate Machine), Claudia Fernandez, guitar instructor (Joyce Collingwood), and Krista Loewen, band coach (You Say Party! We Say Die!).

A showcase will take place at the Waldorf on the evening of Sunday, May 27th. The newly formed camper bands will have their chance to show off their new songs, and the proceeds from the show will go toward food and supplies for Girls Rock Camp.

The cost is $350 per camper. For every person who goes to Ladies Rock Camp, a girl in need of financial aid will be able to attend Girls Rock Camp this summer!

As a mother’s day special, we’re offering $25 off tuition if you sign up as a mother and daughter camp duo.
