Record Collecting

This new 12-inch from The Weeknd is one of the weirdest records I’ve ever seen.

It’s a record! It’s a circular saw blade! It’s both!

The new limited-edition (25 only) release from The Weeknd features the song “Out of Time” built into a fully-functional circular saw blade. I wouldn’t try to cut anything with it (although you could) because it costs $1,000.

This is a collaboration with MSCHF, an art collective based in Brooklyn that became (in)famous for making Satan Sneakers for Lil Nas X. I quote from the press release (via Fader):

“The record grooves are engraved into a copper band via direct metal mastering, which is then inset in the saw blade body. The blade itself is a carbide-tipped 12″ combo blade–for both rips and crosscuts–with powder-coated color and graphics.”
