This punk band released a vinyl record THAT SMELLS LIKE WHAT?
Look at that headline. Now if I add in the name “Gwyneth Paltrow,” things may become a little clearer. Paltrow, who followers know is interested in the smell of her lady bits, once sold a candle through her company, Goop, that emitted an odour like…down there. It sold out almost instantly.
Private Function, a punk band from Australia, just released another interesting piece of vinyl. In the past, they’ve issued records with titles like St. Anger (a poke at Metallica), 370HSSV 0773H (look at it upside down), and ¯_(ツ)_/¯, which came out Friday (May 23). It’s that last one I want to talk about.
There are four versions of ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . Three are on different coloured vinyl while the fourth is scented like, er, Gwyneth. Guitarist Lauren Hester found a perfumer in Paris who was able to figure out how to recreate the smell of Gwyneth. (Hint: You need to blend geranium, bergamot, cedar, damask rose, and ambrette seed.) Just scratch-‘n’-sniff and you’re ready to go.
