TikTok’s parent company has a music-making app–and all you have to do is hum

ByteDance, the parent of TikTok, has just released a music-making app for the masses.

Ripple–which is free–features a “melody to song” generator and a recording studio. Creating a song for your TikTok video is as simple as humming a melody directly into the app. It then extrapolates and expands everything into a full song. The length of the tune is also adjusted to the length of the video. You can then play with BPM and various effects. Don’t try singing, though. It will only generate instrumentals.

How does it work? ByteDance trained this AI on music owned or licensed by the company.
