Time for the weekly Canadian music sales report. How’s the CDs vs vinyl battle going?

Luminate has new numbers for us when it comes to tracking the sales and streaming of music across the country. We’ll start with a look at the CD vs vinyl sales battle.

  • CDs sold in Canada last week: 28,631 (up 4.4% from last week)
  • Vinyl sold in Canada last week: 30,156 (down 6.6%
  • CDs sold in Canada so far this year: 230,836 (up 1.5% from this point in 2024)
  • Vinyl sold in Canada so far this year: 263,667 (up 15.3% from a year ago)

As for streaming:

  • Songs streamed in Canada last week: 2,992,064,255 (a jump of 4.3% from a year ago)
  • Songs streamed in Canada so far this year: 22,198,372,034 (up 6.6% from a year ago)
