Time for your weekly look at Canadian vinyl and CD sales with a detour into streaming numbers (16 Oct 2025)

There are some insane numbers to report this week, all because of Taylor Swift and the release of her Life of a Showgirl album. All numbers courtesy of Luminate.

  • CDs sold in Canada last week: 81,056. That is NOT a typo. (Up a staggering 389.6% from last week. Again, not a typo. It’s all Tay-Tay.)
  • Vinyl sales in Canada last week: 89,035 (Up 299.1%. Wow, huh?)
  • CDs sold in Canada this year: 1,204,084 (down 4.7% from this point last year)
  • Vinyl sold in Canada this year: 1,324,159 (up 18.7% from a year ago).

Streaming numbers:

  • Songs streamed in Canada last week: 2,982,531,640 (up 0.9% from last week)
  • Songs streamed in Canada so far this year: 115,268,730,227 (up 5.8% from this time in 2024)
