Tom Petty Music Soars in the Week Since his Death. Here are the Canadian Numbers.

Word of Tom Petty’s heart attack and then passing happened a week ago, a few days into the chart week. As we’ve come to expect, these sad events boosted interest in his music both online and in stores between midday Monday, October 2 and the closing of the chart week at 11:59pm Thursday, October 5. Here are the numbers for Canada video Nielsen SoundScan which include Petty’s solo work plus songs with the Heartbreakers, Mudcrutch and the Traveling Wilburys.

Album sales: +1,500%

Digital song sales: +1,800%

On-demand streams: +970%

Radio airplay: 125%
