Top 10 Songs for Hockey Night In CBC’s Song Quest

Having lost the rights to Dolores Clayborn’s iconic theme song to TSN several years ago, the CBC has once again asked for Canadians to come up with The Next Great Hockey Song.  This year, more than 1,000 entries were received.  Here are the Top 10.

The Puckhogs – For the Love of the Game (Sudbury, ON)

Harlan Pepper – It’s Hockey Night (Hamilton, ON)

Dave Gunning – A Game Goin’ On (Pictou, NS)

Francis Arsenault – Hockey Night Tonight (Antigonish, NS)

Jon Abrams – For the Love of the Game (Milton, ON)

Cassandra – Bring it Home (Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON)

Annex – Let the Games Begin (This is Our Game!)  (Toronto, ON)

Kenn Coutu – The Underdog Anthem (Victoria, BC)

Willhorse – Stoke It Up (Golden, BC)

The Dusters – This is What We Live For (Vancouver, BC)

The winner will be announced during the Bridgestone Winter Classic® on January 1, 2014.  The song will be professionally produced by Joel Plaskett and featured in a video montage for an opening sequence of a future HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA broadcast. The winner of the competition will also travel to Lloydminster, Alberta/Saskatchewan to perform their song during the  Stolen from a Hockey Card concert brought to you by Scotiabank on Jan. 16, 2014 as part of theScotiabank Hockey Day in Canada festivities.
