Musicians can be a questioning lot. It’s in the nature of the artist to question what’s around him and the world that we live in. But can these questions ever be answered? What do some of these questions even mean? This week we present some the best questions in rock… and maybe a few answers.
10) Creedence Clearwater Revival – Have You Ever Seen The Rain?
Depending on what part of the world the person you’re questioning is from, almost certainly unless that person is blind and then you’re just being mean.
9) The Beatles – Why Don’t We Do It In The Road?
From a technical stand point, unless you’ve got a blanket… it’s probably gonna hurt.
8) U2 – Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses?
Well… maybe one of these guys?
7) Jimi Hendrix Experience – Are You Experienced?
According to my resume, as a freelance writer, factory worker, retail sales person, collections and repossession and boating… yes I am. References available upon request Mr. Hendrix.
6) Flaming Lips – Do You Realize?
… what? That it’s an incomplete sentence?
5) David Bowie – Life On Mars?
The answer appears to be a strong maybe. There may be life on Mars in the form of microbes or bacteria.
4) Pixies – Where is My Mind?
Usually asked when you’ve forgotten to do something that you were just going to do a minute before. Usually involves your car keys.
3) The Clash – Should I Stay Or Should I Go?
How many couples go through this exact phrase? Or the universal question of when is the right time to leave a party.
2) The Who – Who Are You?
A question everyone of us has asked ourselves at one point or another… but in my case if I forget I can just click at the link at the top of this page.
1) The Smiths – How Soon Is Now?
It’s an interesting question, a little bit on the philosophical side. Technically now is now but can now be soon? This might be a question best suited by the brilliant mind of Mel Brooks in the following scene from Spaceballs.
Have any deep musical questions? Post them below and maybe we can give you some answers!
