Toronto’s El Mocambo FINALLY reopens for business this Thursday.
The last time Toronto’s El Mocambo hosted a live gig, Barack Obama was still president and Donald Trump hadn’t even announced his candidacy yet. Now, though, after years of renovations costing a reported $30 million (that is NOT a typo), the venue is set to reopen for a public gig this Thursday (September 10).
Well, publicish.
The first concert will come from Ian Thornley and Big Wreck. Attendance will be very restricted and there will be plenty of sanitizing and social distancing, but it’s still a gig. Tickets are available here. And if you can’t make it, then the whole thing will be streamed in 4K.

If you’re lucky enough to be in attendance, you’ll be blown away by what the Elmo has become. Yes, it’s still a live music venue, but it’s also a super-high-tech production house, capable of doing things that no other club can.
