Toronto’s El Mocambo has an opening date!
After over five years of construction and tens of millions of dollars in renovations, the El Mocambo, one of Canada’s most storied music venues, is finally really to welcome back music fans. This will be the first public gig since sometime in 2014. (There was a virtual gig on Canada with Kim Mitchell, but no one from the general public was present).
Live music will return on September 10 for a special gig featuring Big Wreck. While Stage 3 rules only allow for a limited audience (hey, it’s better than nothing, right?), the entire event will be streamed live from the second floor stage in resolution of up to 4K.
The Elmo has three distinct sections: The Starlight Room on the main floor, the Under the Neon Palms second floor, and the balcony directly above it, which is called the VIP Balcony. Each has its own entrances/exits, bars, and washroom facilities.
The rest of the place is ultra-state-of-the-art. In fact, the new Elmo is now one of the most sophisticated music production/performance places in the entire world. Trust me. I’ve had the tour.
