Trailer for Jimi Hendrix Bio-Pic Released

All By My Side, starring Outkast’s Andre Benjamin, takes a look at Jimi’s life in the two years leading up to his stardom.  What’s interesting is that because the Hendrix estate isn’t cooperating, none of Jimi’s music can be used in the film.  (If you saw the world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, you’ll know all about it.)  Awkward.

The movie will get its proper theatrical release on September 26.  Here’s the trailer.

“Hey Joe”, “All Along The Watchtower”, “Star Spangled Banner”, “Wild Thing” and most of the songs from the Monterey Pop Festival were not written by Jimi. You would think they’d be able to re-record some of those songs for the movie.
