Trent Reznor and Lana Del Rey and Lorde Are Up for Golden Globes

Yes, awards season is in full swing. In fact the Golden Globes are coming up one month from today. A quick scan of the just-announced nominees list finds the following:

Lana Del Rey going head-to-head with Lorde in the Best Original Song (Motion Picture) category. It’ll be Lana’s for “Big Eyes” ( from Big Eyes) against  “Yellow Flicker Beat” (Hunger Games, Mockingjay Part 1)

That same category features John Legend and Common for their contribution “Glory” from Selma plus  Patti Smith and Lenny Kaye for the Noahtrack “Mercy Is.” Finally, we have Sia’s “Opportunity” from the Annie soundtrack.

And if you were fully expecting Trent Reznor to be nominated for  Best Original Score, you can rest easy.  He’s up for his work on David Fincher’s Gone Girl. The competition is Hans Zimmer score for Interstellar, Desplat and Imitation Game, Yohan Yoganson for Theory of Everything and Antonio Sanchez for Birdman.
