The Truth About Beats Headphones
I am not a fan of Beats by Dr. Dre. They’re overpriced, over-bassy headphones that are more of an exercise in marketing than they are in proper audio fidelity. And I’m not alone. Get set for some brutal truths.

What headphones would you recommend for audiophiles Alan?
I use a lot of Sony models in the studio, but for relaxing listening, I like Grados. Expensive, but good.
I second Alan’s Grado recommendation. I just upgarded to a pair of SR325e Grado headphones and feel that for the money there is nothing better.
I personally have mostly Sennheisers, and would endorse them, but I would love a pair of Grados too eventually.
One thing that Sennheiser pulled off pretty well is their Momentum line. They’re not embarrassing to wear in public like a lot of better-sounding cans. The unboxing is hilariously like the Beats one shown in the video. They come in various colours, one extremely Beats-like (black & red), one vintage-feeling (brown), and a modern dark blue. The sound-quality is pretty good, but they are closed (which I don’t mind for public transit + office).
