Twisted Sister’s 50th anniversary tour appears to be off

Fans of the more campy side of 80s hair metal were really looking forward to the Twisted Sister reunion. The prospect was just vapor until last year when the band made it official. They were going to reunite for a 50th anniversary tour.

Now, though, the whole thing is in jeopardy. Frontman Dee Snider has stepped back, citing health issues. Dee, who is 70, has been dealing with degenerative arthritis, which seems to be related to his reference to a “series of [health] challenges.”

A social media post reads:  “A lifetime of legendarily aggressive performing has taken its toll on Dee Snider’s body and soul.” He’s had several surgeries over the years, but he’s still only able to perform a few songs at a time. And the pain is tremendous. There’s also been a toll on his heart.

Dee: “I don’t know of any other way to rock. The idea of slowing down is unacceptable to me. I’d rather walk away than be a shadow of my former self.” He then signs off with a Clint Eastwood quote from Magnum Force: “A man’s got to know his limitations.”

All shows have been cancelled.

Man, it sucks getting old.
