U2 Drummer’s Movie Career Taking Off

With so much time on his hands between U2 albums, drummer Larry Mullen gone deeper into acting.  His latest role is in A Thousand Times Good Night, an Irish-Swedish-Norwegian co-production shot in Dublin.

Mullen plays alongside Juliette Binoche who plays a conflicted war photographer with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau from Game of Thrones cast as her beleaguered husband.  Larry’s role is as one of the couple’s best friends.

If the movie sounds familiar, it’s because it won the Grand Prix Jury Award at the Montreal Film Festival in 2013.  A screening this week at a festival in Dublin has led to a flurry of distribution deals, including Canada, Japan, Australia, Turkey, Bulgaria and Latin America.

Here’s an interview with Larry from last year’s premiere in Oslo.

And still on the subject of U2 and movies, here’s a link to The Hollywood Reporter with U2 talking about their Oscar nomination.  Thanks to Alan for that link.
