U2 is confirmed to play Las Vegas later this year, but…

U2 announced this past weekend that they will help open the MSG Sphere in Las Vegas this fall with a limited run of shows built around the Achtung Baby album. However, in a somewhat embarrassing turn of events, someone dug up an interview with Larry Mullen Jr. from 2013 where he says “I can’t see myself in Las Vegas at 65.” Never say never, dude. • To be fair, he’s not going to be playing this year, although 65 is possibility.

    • Yes. Thank you.

  • You’re think he’d know better than to say that in the future. Then again, in 2103 he’ll be 145 so maybe he forgot?

  • He’s had 3 years to sort out his health problems, why wait until everything gets back going and it’s time to start playing again? Seems selfish towards your band mates and generally all around no common sense!

    • Larry started the band. They answered his ad in high school. They practiced in his parents kitchen. He can’t play without surgery. He knows they don’t need the money. It’s selfish to play without him and an insult to the fans. I hope it goes over poorly and I’ve been a fan since day one.

      • I have been there since day 1 as well. This just feels wrong. Focusing on a 91 album without the backbone of their sound. I just don’t know what to think anymore. I thought they had a rockin album almost finished and songs of ascent completed. Instead no Larry and another look at Achtung Baby in LV
        Confused fan here

    • He doesn’t have to do things on your time schedule. You don’t know what was involved in his decisions. I’m sure that he has more money than he needs and maybe he really doesn’t want to do this anymore. His friends are going on without him and they don’t seem to have a problem, why should you?

  • And he’s not, so there’s that.
