Uh-oh. Crazy Frog has come back for TikTok

You might remember the Crazy Frog, uh, craze back around Christmas in 2004 and into the summer of 2005 when these sounds were everywhere thanks to a ringtone campaign (remember ringtones?) for a company called Jamba.

It was nuts for a while with multiple singles and even an album that went all the way to number five on the UK charts. There was a second album a year later it tanked. A third album followed but disappeared without a trace.

But now our little blue CGI guy is back for the TikTok generation. The video above has more than three billion views on YouTube (the single itself beat Coldplay to number one on the singles charts) and is the 19th most popular YouTube video EVEr.

And now, Crazy Frog’s social media is big enough that someone at Sony Music believes that the time is now for a Crazy Frog revival.

I quote from the BBC: “When we started Crazy Frog, there was no TikTok, it didn’t exist,” [Sony A&R exec Wolfgang] Boss said. “But right now TikTok is super important. It’s basically the number one platform for people to share new music and funny things connected with music.”

The comeback will consist of a mashup of hits inspired by TikTok trends. Expect that to hit YouTube on December 10.
