Uh-Oh. Is The El Mocambo Finally Dead?

Along with the Horseshoe, the El Mocambo is Canada’s most famous rock’n’roll dive bar. Everyone from U2 to the Ramones to Queens of the Stone Age to the Rolling Stones have played their over the years. When I moved to Toronto back in the 80s, it was one of the very first places I sought out.

And now, it might be gone for good.

NOW magazine noticed that co-owner Sam Grosso left this weird Facebook post that appears to indicate that the club may shut down for good after one final event on November 7.

Oh, dear. If this is true, they’d better save that sign.
