Ukraine’s spectacular “Operation Spiderweb” drone strike against Russia was orchestrated by a former DJ.

Last weekend’s wild drone strike by Ukraine against Russia’s air force last weekend caused up to US$7 billion in damage. Russian truck drivers were duped into transporting small prefab shacks to various places deep inside Russia. At an appointed time, the roofs of those shacks opened up and dozens of bomb-carrying drones flew out. The shacks then self-destructed.

Not only did Russia lose a lot of aircraft–many of them already prepped for an imminent bombing run on Ukraine–it was also a brilliant psychological move. Every single Russian transport truck now has to be inspected. And how many more Ukrainian drones are still in Russia, poised to cause more havoc?

The operation took almost two years of planning, meaning that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy did indeed have plenty of cards when he was insulted and berated in the Oval Office by Trump and JD Vance.

This was Tom Clancy/James Bond-level stuff. I’m surprised that only one Russian air force general has fallen out of a window.

Who planned this? A Ukrainian ex-DJ named Artem Timofeev, who used to perform sets in clubs throughout Kyiv, He relocated to Russia and became a spy while running his trucking business. Reports say that the drivers transporting the shacks took their instructions from someone named “Artem.” His wife, Ekaterina Timofeeva, a writer of erotic fiction (her novel I Became Bad While You Loved Me is pretty spicy) may also have been involved.

Talk about a drop, right?
