Update on the Canadian Attempt for the Longest Concert Ever

The short answer? They’re still going at the Earl of Whitchurch pub in Stouffville, Ontario. The music started at 7 pm on Friday, March 17 and has yet to stop. And there’s been an important development, too: we now have a firm end date. The competing event in Michigan has ended, so there’s a defined objective. Once they made it past a certain point on April 2, this charity event will officially be the longest continuous multi-artist concert ever. The Guinness Book of World Records will certify that.

I fired off an email to organizer Kevin Ker and he replied with this.

Hi Alan,

Things are fantastic! I feel like I’ve been awake for 10 days straight.. fuelled by the incredible energy of this event. Everyone who walks in the door can feel it.

We have raised close to $50,000 for charity. It’s absolutely mind-blowing. I could’ve have never imagined how successful this would become.

We surpassed the world record for the longest live streamed concert on Saturday Morning at 8:00am. It was a quick announcement, followed by a quick round of high fives/hugs than back to business as usual.

Every single night has seen a lineup at the door. Stouffville has never seen anything like this. On Saturday, the mayor and his group couldn’t get in as we were at capacity.

The competition with Detroit has ended and we have a clear target. As far as we are to understand, they officially stopped at 5:00 pm last night with a text from the organizer that read “Oh Canada… my fingers are tired.”

This event has been amazing. We’ve seen so many incredible performances. The community that has come together is something very special and the energy undeniable. Things will never be the same after this.

Let me know if you need anything at all.

Thanks Alan

Fingers crossed for these guys. If you want to watch the live surveillance stream, go here.
