US Presidents Used to Bomb Vietnam. Now They Just Beatbox

Barack Obama is in the midst of a historic trip to Vietnam, the country that defeated the US in what the Vietnamese called “The American War.” (Makes sense, doesn’t? The victors get to write their own history.) Having been through the country, I can tell you that there are plenty of relics remaining of those days and the locals are fiercely proud of having repelled the US.

But in a case of time healing all wounds, the US is willing to do all kinds of business with Vietnam–and they wouldn’t mind access for a sea base or two. Who knows what a little diplomacy like this might do?

On a visit through Ho Chi Minh City–what we used to call Saigon–Barack Obama appeared with a Vietnamese rapper named Suboi.
