Want to buy Joey Ramone’s NYC apartment?

Around 30 years ago, there was a chance that Joey Ramone was going to write a forward for one of my books. I was given his phone number (we talked on the phone a few times) and his address (to send some material). It never happened–and then he died. I still have his address and phone number in my contacts. I’ll never delete it.

Joey’s place passed to his brother in 2018, who bought it for US$452,000. But now he’s looking to sell. The apartment–a 400-square-foot one-bedroom (and that’s generous) place that must have been awfully cramped for 6′-5″ Joey–is in a building just off Astor Place in Manhattan has not only been thoroughly renovated, but it comes with a lot of Ramones stuff, too.

During reno, old bills, notes, letters, and scribbles written by Joey and others were found throughout the apartment. Those come with the sale.

How much? Other units in the building go have sold for between US$475,000 and US$575,000.
