Want to get the full effect of Pearl Jam’s new single? Aim your mobile phone at the moon. Seriously.

Gigaton, the new Pearl Jam album, is set for release on March 27, so the expected pre-release singles have made their way into the wild. We’ve already had “Dance of the Clairvoyants,” which is turning into a solid radio hit. Now we have “Superblood Wolfmoon,” which is being unveiled in a cosmic way.

As of tonight (February 13), download this Pearl Jam app to your cell phone, fire it up and point your phone at the moon. This will unlock an augmented reality experience. You’ll see special animations dance over the moon itself.

The tech was designed by a company called Powster. Here’s a statement from CEO Steve Thompson:

“We’re honored to be working with Pearl Jam to bring their music to life through technology blended with the elements of nature that inspired their tone. This activation displays their innovation and creative energy going into their new album. Adapting to new technologies and integrating platforms unleashes the full potential of music, as well as changes the way fans experience new sounds, and we are excited to be teaming up with Pearl Jam to provide their fans with this exclusive look at their style and artistic direction.”

Now if the clouds would just clear up over my place so I can find the damn moon.

“Superblood Wolfmoon” will be available online as February 18.
