Want to Test (and Maybe Fix) Your Hearing? There’s Now an App for That

Earlier this year, I got an email from Kihong from The Good Ear Co in Seoul.  He wanted to let me know about a new app they were working on called Better Hearing.  It’s now been approved by the App Store.

Use your iPhone to analyze and optimize your hearing.  With Better Hearing, you can analyze your hearing to identify the relatively most deficient frequency band of your hearing (e.g. for example, older people tend to not be able to hear well the higher frequencies).

The analysis is free. If you want the optimization part of the app, that’s $4.99.  But hey, if it results in better hearing (or repair to the damage you’ve done with loud music), that’s cheap.

I did the test and found that my left ear is sorely lacking it is ability to hear high frequencies. The app recommends a 14-day therapy session.  I’ll definitely give it a whirl.

  • I have a bridge in the Sahara Desert for sale…Coincidentally, it's only $4.99. You should totally give it a whirl. I'm sure it will be at least as rewarding a beneficial as an app that can repair permanent damage to the sensory cells in your cochlea…
