Want to Win a Trip to See Rush in LA and $5K? Just Cover a Rush Song

Ole–properly spelled “ole” for some reason–bought up Rush’s publishing catalogue last year for tens of millions of dollars. They’re now running a cover song contest with Indaba Music to find the best Rush cover version. The winner will get $5,000 cash and two tickets to see the band play in Los Angeles on August 1. There’s also a meet-and-greet with the band and a limited edition Fender Squire Rush bass. Plus the winning cover will have a lyric video made for YouTube.

There’s a second prize, too:  $3,000 cash and some Rush swag. Third prize is a grand plus Rush merch.

But before you head off to perfect your version of “La Villa Strangiato,” know that you must choose from this list of ten songs.

  • Working Man
  • Fly By Night
  • Closer to the Heart
  • The Spirit of Radio
  • Freewill
  • Limelight
  • Tom Sawyer
  • Red Barchetta
  • New World Man
  • Time Stand Still

Sorry, no “2112,” “Xanadu” or “The Trees.” And for gawd’s sake, don’t even think of “In the Mood.”

If you’re interesting in entering, go here for all the details.
