Job Description
Manager, Information Communications Technology
Location: National Music Centre, Calgary Reporting to: Director of Organizational Development
The Manager of Information Communications Technology reports to the Director of Organizational Development, and is responsible for implementing NMC’s vision for, and leading the development, integration and maintenance of, all aspects of NMC’s information communications technology in coordination with NMC’s audiovisual systems. NMC is currently building a new 160,000 sf purpose- built facility, for which NMC’s objective is to establish large scale, enterprise class, integrated systems, that are comprehensive, modular, reliable, secure and scalable.
The Manager will be responsible for meeting this objective through strategic implementation of infrastructure, physical systems (hardware) and platforms (software) – ensuring that all ICT/AV activities are aligned with NMC’s vision and mission. Working with the senior executive team, the Manager assesses organizational ICT/AV needs, recommends and procures appropriate solutions, and is responsible for overseeing the implementation and maintenance of all ICT/AV systems and solutions. This includes managing relationships with related partners and service providers.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- In line with NMC’s vision, mission, and technology strategy, establishing and implementing overall strategies and multi- year plans for ICT/AV through leading the development and execution of the ICT/AV strategy for technology platforms and tools
- Negotiating agreements and managing resulting ICT/AV partnerships and related service providers
- Sets policy and oversees the security of all ICT/AV systems and digital assets, ensures adherence to industry standards and best practices, and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
- Establishes quality standards for all ICT/AV activities and ensures maintenance schedules, procedures and documentation are well managed
- Supporting all NMC operations and activities in technology projects, and coordinating those projects as necessary
- Anticipating and reacting to major technology changes to ensure NMC remains current with IT trends and best practices
Qualifications and Personal Suitability
- A minimum of 10 years IT enterprise systems experience with a mix of services delivery, outsourcing, consulting, project management, planning, process mapping, and technical support, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role
- Broad knowledge of network infrastructure technology platforms (Linux, Windows, Mac OS, storage, networks, client servers, web servers), and strong understanding of network principles and practical application of WAN/LAN and internet connectivity and delivery concepts
- Demonstrated ability to interpret technology and market trendsKey Relationships
- Exceptional change management, project management and time management abilities
- Adaptability and flexibility to function effectively in a team environment
- Completion of post-secondary education at the degree or diploma level in a relevant field or progressive experience in a similar role
- Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills
- Familiarity with recording technology, music production and/or event production an asset
- Experience working with a museum or cultural institution an asset
- Bilingualism (French/English) an asset • Love of music an asset
