Was Liberace Really a Good Pianist?

When I was little and Liberace came on TV, my parents would always tell me that he was the greatest piano player in the world.  I didn’t know any better back then so I believed them.  I expect many other people continue to believe the same thing.

But was Liberace really that good?  With the new Michael Douglas/Matt Damon HBO movie Behind the Candelabra coming out, this question has come up again.  Slate.com makes an evaluation here.  Meanwhile, here’s some video of the real thing.

Everyone knows that Liberace was great on the piano, but sucked on the organ.

Liberace Was Rubbish On The Organ Because It Wasn’t The Musical Intrament That He Played, He Did Admit That, On The Piano He Was Electric.
