Watch “Ahead by a Century” Played on 50 Guitars

Point one: Few bands can be considered quintessentially Canadian, but one that definitely rocks that label is the Tragically Hip.

Point two: This year, Durham College celebrates its 50th anniversary. To commemorate the event, the college’s singing president, Don Lovisa, got together with 49 members of the college community for 50 Guitars for 50 Years.

What do these two things have to do with one another?
One of the two songs that Lovisa and the other members of the college community performed for their celebration was the Hip’s “Ahead by a Century”. The choice for that song was a nod to the group’s legacy and it was the last song played at the Hip’s final concert on August 20 last year. You can watch their performance here.
