Watch: The Red Hot Chili Peppers Meet Mario Paint

Back in 1992, Nintendo released Mario Paint that was designed to be used with the Super NES video console. Not only was it a basic drawing utility, it could be used to create looping animations. Projects were pixel-by-pixel intensive–you needed a lot of patience–but in the end, you could put the whole thing to a music generator.

Someone with way too much time on their hands has used Mario Paint to reproduce the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Scar Tissue.” Respect, dude, but you really need to get out of the basement into the sunshine.

Bonus! Some Daft Punk.
