One thought on “Watch: The Last Performance of the Classic Clash Line-Up

  • The headline here is misleading. Although Mick, Joe and Paul are on stage together, any reference to The Clash's "classic line-up" would have to include Topper Headon behind the kit. Failing that, the default would go to original drummer Terry Chimes, who later returned. Neither of those gentlemen played the US Festival; that distinction went to Pete Howard, who to my eye, looked very out of place behind Jones, Strummer and Simonen. (Off topic, and I hope he lives to be 100 or more, but when Mick Jones leaves us, he deserves at least as much fanfare and recognition as Joe Strummer. Mick's the heart and soul of most of my favourite Clash songs.)
